Empire Netball Club hosted their 2nd Annual "Mark The Memories" Netball Tournament on Saturday 22nd June at Maricourt High School in Maghull. This is a fantastic event bringing Netball Clubs from around the North West and beyond together for an excellent display of netball talent.
Mark the Memories was established in honour of Mark Edwards, Netball Dad and sports fanatic who sadly passed away from cancer in August 2017. Our charity event helps raise money for the talented athletes who utilise charitable donations from The Mark Edwards Foundation (www.markedwardsfoundation.org).
This year saw a record number of teams attend, with 30+ teams and over 200 young girls battling it out to be divisional champions within their age categories. Eleanor Cardwell, Manchester Thunder Goal Shooter and England International player surprised the girls on the day with a visit to the tournament. Ellie does so much in the netball community, it was great to have her share her passion for netball on the day, signing autographs and taking pictures with the young players.
Ellie also crowned our "Player of the Tournament" as Daisy Hesketh, aged 12 from Empire Netball Club (we swear there was no bias in her decision, just sheer talent!)
After a spectacular raffle and some very generous donations, our total raised on the day was a whopping £1580.23!!!
We can't to do it all again next year, hopefully we will see you all there!
Lots of Love
Empire NC
