About Us

Welcome to the home of Empire Netball Club. Founded in 2014 by 2 amateur coaches with 6 junior players and one giant vision, here we are 8 years later with a literal "Empire".
Please take the time to explore the website and get to know more about our netball family.

About Us

The “Empire” began in 2014, Senior members Michelle & Jenny decided that raising twin girls (Michelle) and both of them working full time wasn’t enough.

They loved (and still love) netball, playing in the Liverpool Netball League on a Sunday opened their eyes to the young Netball talent we have in Liverpool – where was it?

Netball is one of the country’s fastest rising sports, but the opportunities for Junior players in Merseyside was not capitalising on it’s potential.

From the hunger to want more, our Junior Club was set up. As more and more girls began to join the club from local schools such as Sacred Heart, Merchant Taylors, St Mary’s and Holy Family it was time to enter the realm of competitive netball. Merseyside has a Junior League that offered a competitive environment for teams to play against each other once a month. It was great to see the Junior league begin to grow as the years went on. The venue changed, the number of teams competing changed and the level of competition certainly changed ! The Merseyside Junior League (now ran by Empire Coaches Michelle & Jenny) now has over 40 teams taking part with more and more players being selected to represent the Merseyside County Squad.

So 5 Years later, several coaching courses completed and over 100 aspiring Netball Players attending training every week (ages 9 to 19) the Empire decided to branch out. Historically the club was always a Junior Squad and went by the name Winwood Junior Netball Club, a nod to a Senior Netball Club that Michelle & Jenny used to play for. Wanting more for the club (as always – because you know, world domination is never far away!) the Empire was born. Netball to us has always been about building a legacy. As our oldest girls start to head off to University it was decided that not only would their Netball family be (im)patiently waiting for them to return, but also that they needed a suitable home to come back to. This meant a Senior Squad.

4th May 2019 is the day we present to you: – Empire Netball Club. A Netball Family in the heart of Crosby, Liverpool which coaches children and adults from Primary School to High School to Adults (we wont say how old, a lady never reveals her true age!).

We invite you to help grow the Empire with us and enjoy our fantastic sport that is Netball.

The Court is our Home, the Players are our Friends, and the Club is our Family.
