Bleep Month – January 2022

January 2022

The North West Netball RMB (Regional Management Board) initially set the challenge of “Bleep Week” to all North West Clubs & Officials in January 2022 to get the region moving again. The interest really took off and it soon evolved into “Bleep Month”.

Historically the Bleep Test (AKA Multi-stage Fitness Test) has been used to measure athlete’s fitness levels at the start, middle and end of the netball season. It is also used as a measure for Umpire fitness levels and often determines what level of competition they can umpire.

Because of the extensive break from Netball & many other sports and exercise covid caused most leagues took away the compulsory element of the bleep test. This initiative from the North West RMB aimed to gently ease people back into a higher level of fitness, all whilst raising money for an excellent charity.

Empire had a fantastic number of players participate, with over 100 Junior & Senior players completing the bleep test. Removing the competition element and asking our athletes to simply do their best, it was fantastic to see so many people run for longer than they thought they could!

Empire raised an impressive £246 for Cancer Research UK!!!

Thank you to everyone who took part, your generous donations and those who donated so they didn’t have to run!
